New record out by Opossum’s friends in Haiti

“RAM 7: August 1791” just dropped and I can say that this is the storied Haitian band’s best recording to date. There’s an interview with John Edgar and Richard Morse somewhere on this website, but for now, just enjoy the product of so many years in the making. This album features many musical masters and perfect production. JE had the privilege of being around during some of these recordings, in a concrete cabana at Hotel Oloffsen adjacent the pool where the body bobbed in Graham Greene’s The Comedians. . All of their records are incredible, but this one really raises the bar. Turn it up to 11.

Here’s Pitchfork’s review, and seek it out on iTunes and other services.
